I have yet to include the projects I helped out on at Framestore NY this Summer, such as a Geico gecko spot and EA Need For Speed spot. Thesis is all-consuming, I love it...
Here's a really large (1080) render of the Witch with a bump map (in addition to the displacement). I need to dial down the reflectivity in her eyes, but this is a W.I.P. blog after all.
If any of you soon-to-be-Juniors (or anybody who can handle it) wants to help out with some modeling, I can use pretty much anything that you see in the painting above (by Georg Hainz-1666, Oil on canvas, 115 x 93 cm Kunsthalle, Hamburg). If you can keep them lo-res and generate a normal map, that would be cool, otherwise, just have a blast in ZBrush, and I'll handle the map extraction. Just send .ZTLs (saved while at subdiv level 1) to jbakutis@hotmail.com. For more information and reference, definitely check out these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_of_curiosities http://www.a-website.org/mnemosyne/arrange/pages/6wunder.html
There's a lot of witchery taking place on this table, so it has to look well-used. So far. I am happy with the multiple levels of grunge, which hopefully suggest a lifetime (or several lifetimes) of use.
Here's an initial test of the facial rig for the Imp. The whole body is just about done, just the tedious process of skin weight painting. By the way, this is NOT the final skin shader, nor does he have a bump map yet.
The Witch's work room can never be too cluttered, so.... The old tomes are low poly with excessively large 2k texture maps, but they sure look nice. Rendered in Mental Ray, no GI, just regular lights.
I am a School of Visual Arts Computer Art BFA alumnus, class of 2011.
I specialize in both organic and hard surface modeling, using primarily Maya and ZBrush. I am also adept at texturing, lighting, rendering, and compositing using Nuke. I can rig and animate, but on a more basic level than the other skills listed.
I am also friendly, positive, and easy to get along with... I look forward to meeting you.
